The Girls’ Swim team is making waves as the biggest West Fargo district swim team! During a recent interview, a member of the team said the team now has 37 swimmers. Rebecca Smith, a member of the swim team, said “It is very thrilling to see so many girls excited about the sport.”
The girls had their first competition on Friday, August 30 against Sheyenne, and the competition went great. A few swimmers even qualified for the Eastern Dakota Conference Regional Tournament and even the North Dakota State Tournament.
If you’re looking to join swimming, Smith suggests having a “positive and growth mindset.” No matter how good you are at swimming, you will have some bad days either at the meet or just in general. Having this positive point of view, being able to have a rough day and still come to meets, be able to not hold onto that negativity, and lash out during a meet is an amazing quality in anyone looking to join a sport. The team of girls are a kind group, and I know that everyone on the team will try and encourage you to do your best, always supporting you.
