If you enter your closet, are there clothes you haven’t worn in months? I know there are. Now, I’m not being mean, for the last few weeks I had that same pile of clothes and I decided to donate them to the Hawk Closet after hearing Mrs. Enger Shearer call the teacher donated clothes ‘tragic.’ If you didn’t know it existed like me, the Hawk Closet is a room in Horace High School full of clothing, shoes, hygiene products, food, school supplies, and so much more! Any student is welcome to come in and take what they need.
The National Honor Society is currently working with the Hawk Closet to create a better organized space for students to sift through. The ongoing project is sorting the clothes by type and size to make for easier finds. If you have clothes to donate, you can place the bag or bin in room A138 as the door is always open. Furthermore, we ask that you check that your clothes are washed, teenager appropriate, and have no stains or holes.
There will soon be a winter clothing drive organized by the National Honor Society for those in need, so please go through your drawers, closets, and bins for extra items. We accept all sizes whether children’s or adult’s. Anyone is welcome to donate and it doesn’t have to be clothes. Donatable items could be hygiene products or non-perishable food items a student would realistically eat. Additionally, if you have extra Homecoming, Winter Formal, or Prom dress wear, feel free to donate those as well.
We’re excited to sort through your clothes!
