Chalkfest is, a celebration where students showcase their creativity by transforming the school’s sidewalks into colorful masterpieces took place last week on October 3rd. The artists who took part created diverse artworks that ranged from Homecoming Spirit to well-known characters. The art teachers Mrs. Opp and Mrs. Dotzenrod said that Chalkfest “allows more learners to get into the spirit of homecoming with a day outside filled with art, laughter, and friendly competition.” It is unfortunate that the chalk is only temporary because all the art was amazing! So, make sure to enjoy it before all the art goes away from the weather. Chalkfest also allows students and staff to appreciate art and its beauty without having to travel to go to a museum because it is right outside the school for anyone to see, until it gets washed away!
I mentioned earlier in the quote that there is friendly competition which brings us to the winners of Chalkfest! The winners of most Academy pride is the team Fly High with Brody Halverson, Jaiden Haile, and Keelie Sunde. Most School Spirit goes to Kallen Nordick and William Rettig. Fan art winner is Team GAS, Gabby Rodriquez, Adelei Albrecht, and Sara Utley. And the final category is Best in Show which goes to the ChalkHawks, with Liana Williamson, Jocelyn Wettlaufer, Emmaleigh Francis, and finally Elizabeth Williamson.
Some honorable mentions are, Panda Power: Katelyn DiFonzo, and Hannah Hanson. Hawk Block: Blake Haman, Daniel Reyes, Diego Torres, Advin Mujic. And the final team Natalie Nun: Bella Leckner, Evelyn Bakkum, and Haddie Bean.
