November 20th, 2024, the defending AA state champions Horace Hawks are moving up into AAA football starting in the 2025 football season. Only four seasons after the first varsity game, Horace High School has moved up to the top class in the state AAA, now with a state title under their belt and strong momentum heading into the 2025 season. Key players part of the 2024-championship team are now graduated, but the hopes are still as strong as ever with the returning key players.
The Hawks kick off their first AAA competition on September 12th taking on the Mandan Braves with hopes of snatching a win for their first AAA competition. The Hawks on October 17th travel to Davies to take on the 2024 state AAA runner ups to put up a battle between state champions and the runner ups of their new class.
The Hawks currently have star player Israel Bauer and here is what he thinks the Hawks can do with the fresh start in AAA. “In our first year in 3A I believe we can go to playoffs and have aspirations at getting back to the dome I genuinely believe we can do great things this year with our sky being as high as we make it and only, we can limit ourselves.” When asked about the strengths that Horace has compared to the rest of the state this is what he knows the Hawks are stronger than the others in the state. “We have the best wide receiver and DB core in North Dakota period. Theo is lengthy and a threat at all levels. Brett is a freak athlete who’s 6’5, so he’s a matchup mismatch. Me and Aiden are threats in the open field and are the 2 best route runners in North Dakota. When you add a great QB like Mathew who can break a school record for passing yards in a game, he can drive the bus for us and our receivers will be the wheels keeping it rolling. And such a tendered coaching staff who has experience at all levels of football NAIA, DII, All Americans, NFL players, NDSU lineman, and so much knowledge with that.”
