On September 3rd, 2026, student council hosted the third annual powderpuff game where the Juniors annihilated the Seniors, following the footsteps of last year’s graduating class.
The girls were hard at work in the weeks leading to the game with their coaches setting up plays and teaching them the positions! Reid Foell, Matthew Dick and Landon Mack led the junior girls to the championship of their first ever powderpuff game! With Owen Mueller, Dillon Otterson, Austin Ohleen and Abram Germundsen coaching the seniors through their last ever one.
The game opened with Tristan Struck scoring for the juniors, setting them ahead 7-0. And after an intense first half of the game, the seniors led 12-7 going into halftime! Junior coach, Matthew Dick was still optimistic despite the seniors’ lead, saying, “I was confident in our team’s ability to go out and perform. At halftime we were down but I knew we weren’t out.”
In the second half, the juniors led 22-16 with only 1:18 left on the clock. The seniors managed to tie up the game 22-22, pushing the game into overtime. The championship was up to a final play—seniors with the ball. The juniors stopped playing, winning the game! Landon Mack said, “It felt great to get that win and pushing through all the penalties and the attempts to stop us.”
Overall, the game was fun for everyone involved! With the senior class posting on Instagram, “The real trophy was bonding as a team” and Dick saying his favorite part of the games was “celebrating with the team after we stopped them in overtime.”
