Few have heard of the diamond doctor, let alone even know who the diamond doctor is. Well, the diamond doctor is a former baseball coach named Chris Bennes that owns the company, Diamond Doctor. He goes around Minnesota and North Dakota repairing baseball fields.
Mr. Irey, the Horace baseball coach felt the need to bring in the diamond doctor because, “We want to give our players the best playing surface possible. The birdcage, also being a rather new field, needed repair,” explains Mr. Irey.
After asking Irey about how the season may go for the varsity team he went on to say, “I believe we learned a lot last year as a varsity team, and we gained a lot of experience as to what it takes to be successful in the EDC”.
The repairs made include rebuilding the pitching mound with new clay, rebuilding the batter’s box with new clay, and edging the outfield and infield grass. This in conclusion means that the Horace team might have a real fighting chance. Go Hawks!
