Congratulations to our fine arts student of the month for November, Levi Gordon! As you have probably gathered, every month a student that participates in fine arts at Horace High School is celebrated on our Hawk Squawk for their contribution. Levi, a junior, participates in Student Congress when his football schedule allows, as well as activities such as Debate and Speech.
Levi shares his firsthand experiences with fine arts, “In middle school and elementary school, I felt like talking to people was kind of something that I very much struggled with. Debate and Speech have very much helped me, not only with my confidence in speaking and talking to people but additionally in how I’m able to convey information and just interact with the world around me. That and the very nice competitive atmosphere.” As we get older, our ability to effectively communicate becomes more imperative within our communities.
Levi leaves us with final thoughts leading us into December, “I would say just join. It is not only something that is fun… but it makes you a more developed person. I feel that once you leave high school, a lot of the opportunities are kind of dried up so I say seize them when you can.” Whether it is speech and debate, art classes, or musical activities, go out and try something if you really want to!
