Black Friday No More

2023’s Black Friday sales were a bust! Over $9.8 billion dollars were spent this Black Friday. Companies were not willing to justify getting rid of their profit for Black Friday this year.

Black Friday was created in the 1950s, where everything goes on sale and people run to find Christmas presents, holiday gifts, and things for themselves. However, as usual this Black Friday was disappointing. The sales were not as ‘wowing,’ since these companies started their sales upwards of a month early, which makes the actual sale much less exciting.

This year, many of the sales were online. No more in-store fights for the last 60% off TV! With everything available online, stores were offering only 20-30% off, and still making you pay for shipping. Companies that did not do this were using another tactic to make you believe you were the bang for your buck. Many up charged their products, to pretend they are discounting more than normal. This, however, is not true because the sale is typically still around 30% off, it just looks like 90%.
