In a recent interview with School Librarian, Nicole Hillman, she paints to us the beauty of reading and how our Horace student body can make reading a good habit.
As the end of the first quarter is wrapping up, some of us may be too busy to implement reading into our daily lives or be overwhelmed by the selection of books to choose from. Mrs. Hillman tells people who may be struggling with these problems, “We have so many opportunities now, with having digital books and audiobooks…if you could find 15 minutes in a day to read…it’s a lot easier to build it in.” It’s important to start of slow and try to build a routine with any good habit you want to establish; reading is no exception! Some of you may just not enjoy reading, thinks it’s a bore even. Maybe you have yet to find the right fit for you! Mrs. Hillman strongly agrees with that sentiment, she states, “They haven’t found something that they enjoy. That’s step one! What do you like to read?” With this advice, try to also explore different genres you like to watch, it’s important to also take reading levels into consideration.
