With the war in Ukraine coming into its 11th month since it started in February of last year, there still seems to be no end in sight to the conflict. With an estimated 500,000 casualties and 190,000 deceased, the Russian and Ukrainian authorities can’t seem to reach an agreement on what to do upon closing the last battle or, hopefully, some peace talk. To many average Joes, it appears that Ukraine might be winning, pushing back the invader’s territory by territory. However, Zelenskyy seems unconfident in a total victory as the country’s rebuild would be immense, regardless of how ill-prepared Russians might be coming into the next six months of the war. There are an estimated six million displaced Ukrainian refugees, many fleeing into neighboring Poland or Moldova, and only a few staying in the country they once called home. In conclusion, the aftereffects of a devastating war might change the course of history decades into the future.
