The Long Awaited Horace High Weight and Fitness Room Finally Opens Doors

After a long, tenuous wait, the Horace High School weight and fitness room has finally opened. Filled with brand new equipment, the Horace High School weight and fitness room is here to provide opportunities to students to help stay active.

The weight room is open from 3:30 to 5:30 everyday for all members of the student body. Anyone participating in activities within the weight and fitness room will be supervised by Coach Carlblom, the strength and conditioning coach for Horace High. The weight and fitness room is technically open for as long as the school is, but any activity outside the 3:30-5:30 timeframe needs staff supervision. Equipment includes treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, barbell racks, dumbbell racks, and much more. Coach Carlblom has pre-made strength training routines that anyone can use, he is also able to provide direction for any seeking advice regarding physical fitness and activity. In an interview I had with Mr. Midthun, Activities Director for Horace High, he stated “With the weight and fitness room, this is an important piece for teaching kids physical fitness.” And that “It is a necessity for having the ability to train competitive sports teams.”

The Horace High School weight and fitness room is also one of the nicest in the district, not only is all the equipment new, but it boasts a size comparable to West Fargo and Sheyenne. This is also not the end for the development of our new weight and fitness room. While currently a completed project, expansion analogous to that of our gym and other fitness resources is projected.
